Management Plan
At Old Federal Road Farm, our goal is to give you the best hunting experience possible. The management strategies that we practice give our customers the best opportunity to harvest older, larger and more mature bucks. We request that all bucks taken have a minimum of 8 points, 15 inches wide (inside spread) and be 3 ½ years of age. We understand that not everyone can accurately age deer in the wild; therefore, we have adjusted our trophy fees to promote the harvest of more mature deer. We have been intensively managing our deer herd for the past 15 years. This allows the younger bucks to walk and reach maturity. We use a supplemental feeding program of soybeans and mineral sites high in calcium along with year round food plots. We utilize between 40 -50 wildlife openings throughout the property. Our timber management plans have been geared to benefit the deer herd. Hard and soft mast producing trees have been planted to add to the mast production. Most of the pine stands are on a prescribed burn rotation to favor natural forages that are high in protein. We also plant food plots in the winter months to increase the food supply. By increasing the carrying capacity through management, we are able to hold more deer on the property and allow them to grow to their full potential. Our 4-5 yr old bucks range in size from 135-165 inches B&C and will weigh between 180 to 230 lbs.
